What is Electric Hamster Racing?

In simple terms Electric Hamster Racing ™ has a very wide appeal – all ages, all classes. Whether you are a seasoned punter or just out for a good laugh, you’ll love the hamsters. It is, in our opinion the ultimate pub sport, and to say it is the most widely supported battery powered rodent sport in this country would be an understatement.

Run as a sweepstake, the evening consists of several racing events, finishing up with a few ‘grudge matches’ at the end of the evening. Although usually booked for a 2 or 3 hour event, it can be tailored around your clients’ requirements Tickets are sold to the general public for each event, with 4 or 5 tickets for each hamster ( more tickets are issued, depending on size of venue.)

Each event is run on a FIH (the Electric Hamster Racing governing body) approved 4 lane figure of eight racing track exclusively manned by official stewards. Hamsters are randomly selected to complete four at a time over 3 laps, with the first two hamsters progressing to the next round. The losers from each race are sent down ‘The Walk of Shame to the Losers’ Paddock.

When all the competitors have raced the event moves onto the semi-final stage with two races of four deciding, in the same manner, who will compete in the all important Grand-Final. The Grand-Final is run over four laps, winner takes all, with the final pot being split between the winning ticket holders at the end of the event.

Electric Hamster Racing is a winner takes all sport, but betting can take place at the semi-final or final stages of the event so there are more chances to win." "Other styles of race are also run along side the main event .The "EnduroHamster 500" events are long distance stamina races run on the same track as the main events. The whole field of 16 hamsters racing on the track simultaneously, with the last hamster still moving claiming the prize To counter the problems of over crowding at the beginning of such races, official stewards are authorised to place quicker hamsters ahead, if they in-counter a slower hamster, this gives no unfair advantage and stops the problem of lane blocking. Towards the end of the race each hamster is allowed one "prod" to help him or her on their way. If they require a second then they are out of the event. No time limit is placed on such events, there fore producing a pure battle of stamina."

Unless you have a very vivid imagination, or you are a well known Hollywood actor, Electric Hamster Racing is really the most fun you can have with a battery operated rodent. It is, and has been enjoyed by every section of society, every age group, every race. Is it the answer to world peace? I'm not too sure but it's the closest we've come.

Check it out.
